A large new shilajit trial reported improvements in strength, endurance, soreness and testosterone. It is worth watching—but it is a manufacturer-connected preprint, not established proof.
Study at a glance
- Posted: July 31, 2026
- Status: Preprint; not peer reviewed
- Design: 90-day randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled multicenter trial
- Participants: 100 resistance-trained men
- Intervention: A proprietary shilajit resin at 250 mg twice daily
- Evidence strength: Preliminary
What the study reported
The proprietary shilajit group reportedly improved leg-press strength, muscular endurance, grip strength and soreness compared with placebo. Total testosterone rose 15.6% in the active group while declining 3.8% in placebo.
Those numbers are interesting, but they should not be converted into promises for every shilajit supplement. The trial tested one standardized resin, at one dose, in resistance-trained men.
Why the evidence is still preliminary
Preprints are shared before independent journal peer review. The manuscript can still change, be corrected or fail to reach final publication. The trial also had manufacturer connections, and baseline free testosterone differed between groups.
Shilajit products vary in source, purification and standardization. Findings from one proprietary resin cannot automatically be applied to every capsule, resin or blended product. Mechanistic ideas involving fulvic acid or trace minerals also do not prove a consumer outcome on their own.
Practical takeaway
This is best presented as “new shilajit research we are watching,” not as a hard testosterone or strength claim. Training, protein, energy intake and sleep remain higher-confidence performance tools.
